Do Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules Work?

If you know anything about skincare and beauty, you’ll know that American beauty brand Elizabeth Arden is known for their skincare capsules. Launched in 1990, these little pods changed the skincare game.

Now, there’s a total of four ceramide capsules in the range to choose from. From ageing skin to dry skin, each of these capsules is catered to treat different skincare needs.

So, do Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules work? In this guide, we’re going to go over the benefits of these ceramide capsules, and help you determine which ones are best for you.

What are Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules?

Elizabeth Arden’s skincare capsules are just that - capsules! Put simply, these capsules contain small doses of potent, active ingredients designed to treat various skincare concerns.

Benefits of skincare in capsule form:

  • No wasted product. What’s great about capsule-form skincare is that you know you’re not going to be wasting product. The capsules indicate just how little of the product you need to make it work, so you know you’re using powerful ingredients.

  • No external damage. As the ingredients are fully covered by the tiny pod packaging, the active ingredients inside are protected from external damage, such as sun damage. This ensures that the active ingredients don’t weaken over time.

    • Travel-friendly. With your essential skincare needs in tiny pod form, you can travel with your skincare routine stress-free. With your skincare routine in a handful of tiny capsules, you’re not running the risk of being forced to bin your favourite face cream at the airport.

Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules: which is best for you?

So, which of the four Ceramide Capsules is best for your skin? We’ve created an easy guide below, so you can explore each one’s key ingredients, benefits, and uses.

Hyaluronic Acid Ceramide Capsules Hydra-Plumping Serum

Great for dehydrated or dry skin, Elizabeth Arden’s Hyaluronic Acid Ceramide Capsules are great at providing deep, lasting hydration and filling out any imperfections. Thanks to the capsules’ nano-technology, the hyaluronic acid is able to penetrate even deeper into the skin (up to 4x deeper than regular hyaluronic acid.)

Hyaluronic acid itself is also a major game-changer when it comes to hydrating the skin: able to hold up to 1000 times its own weight in water, hyaluronic acid instantly plumps up the skin, providing deep hydration while also helping to conceal fine lines, wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation and even temporarily reduce the appearance of acne scars.

Key ingredients: Hyaluronic acid (hydrating), Ceramides, Ginger

Best suited for: Dry skin, dull skin, skin in need of plumping up, young skin

How to use: Twist the capsule, being careful not to let any of the serum spill out. Apply either evening or morning (or both) before moisturising. Thanks to the smoothing hyaluronic acid in the formula, this Ceramide Capsule is great for creating a smooth make-up base.

Advanced Ceramide Capsules Daily Restoring Youth Serum

These Ceramide Capsules were the first-ever Elizabeth Arden capsules, launched back in 1990. These capsules are primarily used to firm the skin and fight against signs of ageing, but also provide hydration, smooth skin texture, as well as skin brightening and radiance.

These capsules are great if you have young skin but want to incorporate an anti-ageing element into your skincare routine.

Key ingredients: Ceramides 1, 3 + 6, Linoleic acid, Vitamin E, Phytosphingosine and sea fennel extract.

Best suited for: Concealing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, hydration, plumps and firms the skin.

How to use: Twist the pod open, ideally in your palm so you can scoop up any spillages. Apply the serum all over the face once you’ve cleansed and toned your skin. Follow up with a moisturiser. The Advanced Ceramide capsules are best suited to nighttime use.

Retinol Ceramide Capsules Line Erasing Night Serum

Elizabeth Arden’s Retinol Ceramide Capsules are ideal for treating signs of ageing. The active ingredient in these capsules is retinol, a wrinkle-fighting derivative of Vitamin A (and one of the only topical skincare ingredients scientifically-proven to reduce the visibility of wrinkles!)

This is because retinol increases skin cell turnover, which aids the skin’s natural production of collagen. Collagen is a natural protein found in the body, and is responsible for the suppleness of your skin and joints. As we age, our body progressively stops producing collagen year on year - this is what causes lines and wrinkles.

By incorporating these Retinol Ceramide Capsules into your skincare routine, you can help support the skin’s natural collagen production and achieve younger, smoother skin.

      Key ingredients: Retinol

Best suited for: Anti-ageing, reduce appearance of wrinkles and fine lines

How to use: As these capsules contain retinol, you can only use them at night. Retinol makes the skin highly sensitive to the sun, so make sure to also apply an SPF the next morning. You can apply one of these capsules to your skin after cleansing and toning, before following up with a moisturiser.

Vitamin C Ceramide Capsules Radiance Renewal

For brightening and radiance, Elizabeth Arden’s Vitamin C Ceramide Capsules are the way to go. Enriched with skin-brightening Vitamin C and soothing Clary Sage, these capsules brighten your complexion, fix uneven skin tone, reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation and leave you with a radiant glow.

The Ceramide and Vitamin C mix also help to support your body’s natural collagen and elastin, making it a great accompaniment to the retinol or advanced ceramide capsules.

Key ingredients: Vitamin C, Clary Sage, Ceramides

Best suited for: Young skin, treatment of hyperpigmentation

How to use: Apply all over the face following cleansing and toning. Can be used day or night.

How to Use Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules

To use Elizabeth Arden ceramide capsules correctly, twist the pod gently and squeeze out the product into the palm of your hand or onto your fingers. Apply all over the face after cleansing and toning. Follow up with a moisturiser.

Does one capsule = one dose?

Yes, you should only use one ceramide capsule per skincare routine. Using any less might render your results less noticeable, while using two won’t change your results and would simply be a waste of product.

While they do come in capsule form, it should be noted that you do NOT ingest Elizabeth Arden ceramide capsules. They are applied topically to the skin.

Can I mix two Elizabeth Arden Capsules together?

Yes! If you want to create a custom cocktail for your skin, you can mix two sets of capsules together.
